The Issue: Dunmer, or Dark Elves, are specifically stated in older games to have only red eyes. My proposal is to add this into the race description on the Character Creation screen, something along the lines of 'In the Second Era, the most common furstock to travel outside Elsweyr is the Suthay.' My research (too long for this little nitpicky post, I'm afraid) points to Suthay as being the most likely candidate. The Proposal: Pick a furstock we haven't seen yet to be the furstock of these new plantigrade cat-people. The problem with this is that Morrowind's artwork established Suthay-Raht as having digitigrade feet, so theГ‚ plantigrade Khajiit cannot also be Suthay-Raht by this logic. In TES4, TES5, ESO, and ES:L, the Khajiit have taken on the forms of cat people with plantigrade feet, and we are either not given their furstock's name or they have been retconned in as Suthay-Raht. The Issue: In the Elder Scrolls games up until TES4 (Oblivion), the changes to the Khajiit appearances were explained as their coming from different furstocks, or Khajiit 'species', like the Ohmes and the Ohmes-Raht. The first stop is at Character Creation, otherwise known as tweaks to racial appearances and the class aesthetics. I've also found that details can make or break the best ideas, and can have an enormous amount of influence on a world's tone and atmosphere, so it makes an ideal starting place for turning the TES lore boat around from where it's gotten mired (in my overly elitist opinion of course!).ДЇinally please note, that, as with anything that I write here in the blogs, the following are my own opinions and are not be taken as the official stance of Tamriel Rebuilt, Project Tamriel, or related projects.ДЄnd so to begin. Perhaps with enough support, Zenimax may one day take me up on the changes I propose here (this one is allowed to dream, yes?), and it's much easier to tweak dialogue, lorebooks, and place names here and there, rather than have to go and rewrite the entire structure of the game. Please also note that I am not going to tackle some of the bigger decisions that ESO made that I think were stupid or that have proven to be unpopular, such as Argonians allying with Dunmer or the Planemeld. Sorry, Zenimax, but I still detest the mushroom cancer you inflicted on my beautiful towers.) Although there are still some stupidities in those (RIP Telvanni towers), on the whole Zenimax's writing and tone has improved, and I'd like to give credit there were credit is due.

Please note that I am not going to tackle the DLCs in this blog series, or at least not at present.

But for now, I'll dedicate this blog to notes on the lore (or lack thereof) from the vanilla (non DLC) zones in ESO, and my impressions on minor tweaks Zenimax could make to bring their lore into line with the rest of the TES canon. Given my propensity for procrastination and starting projects that I never finish, or only finish years later, I'm not sure how far I will get in this. So I know this is probably an exercise in insanity, but I was inspired today by playing a little through ESO and seeing some of the wheat among the chaff.
